On 22 May 2025, Synia Aid Foundation, in partnership with Deborah Counselling Consult and SpeakOut Mental Outreach, brought the “Pad A Girl” Campaign to ECWA School, Keffi, Nasarawa State, transforming an ordinary school day into a powerful movement of awareness, protection, and empowerment. What began as a vibrant community awareness road walk, with sanitary pads shared along the way, grew into a deeply impactful gathering where secondary school girls—and women from the wider community—were equipped with life-changing knowledge on menstrual hygiene, dignity, and personal safety. Through engaging teachings led by Miss Deborah Enewa Akpode and Mrs Rejoice Endem Amos, participants were not only educated on menstrual health but also sensitized on how to recognize, prevent, and respond to sexual abuse, strengthening their confidence to speak up and seek help. The experience was further enriched by Mr Jerry Offorka, who combined games, laughter, and real-life guidance to help the girls understand safety, courage, and what to do in situations of abuse. Amidst dancing competitions, laughter, and moments of joy, essential support was also provided through the distribution of sanitary pads and educational materials, ensuring that dignity and learning went hand in hand. This was more than an outreach—it was a bold stand for every girl’s right to be informed, protected, and empowered, leaving a lasting impact that continues to echo far beyond Keffi.

Synia Aid Foundation Hosts “Pad A Girl” Campaign at ECWA School, Keffi, Nasarawa State

On 22 May 2025, Synia Aid Foundation, in partnership with Deborah Counselling Consult and SpeakOut Mental Outreach, successfully implemented the “Pad A Girl” Campaign at ECWA School, Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The program was primarily designed for secondary school girls, but also welcomed and engaged other women in the community, creating a wider platform for learning, support, and shared awareness on menstrual health and personal safety.

Awareness Road Walk and Community Engagement

The day began with a powerful awareness road walk, where participants moved through the community raising awareness on menstrual hygiene and girls’ health rights. During the walk, sanitary pads were distributed, helping to spark conversations around dignity, hygiene, and the importance of supporting girls during their menstrual cycle.

Health Education and Protection Awareness

At the venue, participants were engaged in an impactful teaching session anchored by Miss Deborah Enewa Akpode and Mrs Rejoice Endem Amos.

The session focused on:

Menstrual hygiene management and personal care practices
Understanding the menstrual cycle and maintaining dignity during menstruation
Preventing and protecting against sexual abuse
Building awareness on personal safety, boundaries, and seeking help when at risk

The facilitators emphasized the importance of speaking out, knowing one’s rights, and accessing trusted support systems in cases of abuse or threat.

Interactive Games, Counseling, and Life Guidance

The session also featured engaging and educational activities anchored by Mr Jerry Offorka, who facilitated games designed to promote participation, confidence, and openness.

Beyond entertainment, he also provided practical guidance to the girls on what to do if they experience or witness abuse, reinforcing the importance of reporting, seeking help, and staying safe.

Fun, Expression, and Empowerment

The program included a lively dancing competition, which brought energy, joy, and self-expression to the event. Participants were also encouraged to build confidence, celebrate their identity, and support one another as peers.

Dignity Through Support

To further support the girls, sanitary pads and educational books were distributed, ensuring both their health and academic development were encouraged. These gifts helped reinforce the message that every girl deserves dignity, education, and equal opportunity.
